| We are an accredited practice for the almost invisible
INVISALIGN appliance.
The Invisalign appliance consists of a series of
thin clear plastic ‘aligners’. These are
replaced every two weeks and gradually guide the teeth
to their correct positions. The processes of treatment
planning and manufacture of the aligners make use of
advanced computer technology.

However, this appliance cannot be used
for the correction of all orthodontic problems. Invisalign
is generally suitable for improving the alignment of
the front teeth in adult patients when the crowding
of teeth is not too severe and when the fit of the bite
requires only relatively minor correction.
It is sometimes necessary to carry out minor additional
adjustments to fine tune the position of some teeth
for a few weeks after completion with the Invisalign
appliance. This may necessitate the use of a small
number of tooth coloured ceramic fixed appliance components.
Once treatment is completed, the teeth need to be
held in their new positions in the same way as after
fixed brace treatment. This usually entails bonding
fine wires to the inner surfaces of the front teeth
(which are therefore invisible) as illustrated in the
page on retainers. |
